In 2021, immigrants transferred €541 million to their families in Albania.

This marks an increase of 15% from last year, when countries closed their borders due to the pandemic.

But if take a look throughout the years, these amounts were last recorded in 2009, then the remittances were between €400 to €500 million.

Italy and Greece are the main channels, due to the large number of immigrants living and working in the neighboring countries.

But in recent years, inflows from other countries are also increasing, mainly Britain and Germany.

The increased inflow of money that immigrants are bringing is an indicator that Albanian families fail to provide enough income to cover their expenses.
