As the end-of-the-year festivities approach, a considerable rise in prices has been noticed in the market of fruits and vegetables.

For citizens, prices have been unaffordable whereas traders say that prices are low but buying power has gone down.

Citizens however admit that these products have definitely become more expensive.

“They’re very expensive. In these past few months, we haven’t been able to buy food and vegetables. We’re retired. I’m coming around and still haven’t bought anything,” – said a citizen in one of the local markets.

“Prices are fine, they haven’t gone up. But, on New Years they will go up like always,” – said another citizen.

For market vendors, the problem is elsewhere. They say that prices in their markets haven’t changed but that the buying power has gone down.

Like every other year, prices will go up on the eve of New Years festivities. But this year, another thing that’s missing is the inspection of the adequate instances, who are tasked with checking for possible abuse in the various markets.
