Energy expert Lulzim Syla declared on Good Morning that Kosovo is in a difficult situation and it might need to import energy.

Syla emphasized that energy prices might go up and warned power outages.

“Energy price cannot go up in a day. They need to come to a conclusion on what is an affordable price for citizens”, he said while adding that the reserve fund has been exhausted in order to supply the country with electricity.

He noted that there is a bilateral agreement between Kosovo and Albania which should be enforced in times of crisis.

“They should work on energy efficiency by isolating dozens of houses in Kosovo that spend energy the most. The government must come up with the necessary legislation to foster new ways of generating power, such as solar or wind”, he said.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti referred to the current situation on Wednesday as “grave”.

He accused previous governments of mismanagement and called on citizens to save energy.
