The deputy leader of the Democratic Party, Jorida Tabuku, declared that former environment minister Lefter Koka was not alone in the fraudulent scheme with the waste incinerator of Elbasan.

According to her, many others were involved adding that the DP aims to carry a parallel investigation to that of SPAK.

“The entire incinerator scheme is nothing else but an operation map of a well-structured criminal group”, Tabaku said.

The MP emphasized that the mayors of Fier, Elbasan, and Tirana should have also been put in front of justice and be held accountable for the concessions.

“The Fier incinerator is still on an official payroll as we speak. Yesterday it received a €500,000 pay from the Treasury”, said Tabaku.

She called on political actors and the media not to cover up the corruptive affairs that involve incinerators for the “sake of the Albanian people, who need to know what’s happening with their money”.
