Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is set to visit Tirana on 21 and 22 December in line with the next Open Balkan meeting that will bring together the prime ministers of Albania, North Macedonia, and Serbia.

Initially, the meeting was supposed to take place after Christmas.

Officially known as the Open Balkan, the initiative was initially introduced in Novi Sad on 10 October 2019 and aims to ease the movement of goods, people, services, and capital.

Together, Rama, Zaev, and Vucic have signed 2 Memorandum of Understanding and an interstate agreement.

Kosovo, Bosnia, and Montenegro have refused to join the initiative, and describe it as “dangerous”.

On Wednesday, the President of North Macedonia Stevo Pendarovski visited Prishtina where he stated that the Open Balkan should encompass 6 states, and reiterated that it is not a “substitute of the Berlin Process”.
