So far, concessions for the incinerators built in our country over the years, have cost Albanian taxpayers over 12 billion Albanian Lek or around €100 million euros. The cost for the incinerator of Elbasan, which is now seized due to open investigations was 4.1 billion ALL, which were covered by our state budget. Payments for this incinerator have been made in full since March 2021.
For the incinerator of Fier, so far, the state has paid a total of 3.6 billion ALL and is expected to pay another 630 million ALL until 2022.
The most expensive waste management plant is the one in Tirana, payments for which started back in 2018 and so far, the overall cost has been 4.5 billion ALL.
In the beginning, Tirana’s incinerator was meant to cost no more than 17.1 billion ALL but costs have gone up since then.
Regular payments for this incinerator will continue until 2046.
