Hundreds have answered the call of former PM Sali Berisha to protest against Open Balkan, the Serbian president’s Aleksandar Vucic, visit to Tirana and Edi Rama’s government.
As a sign of protest, several citizens took down and burned the Serbian flags that had been put up along the Blvd. ‘Deshmoret e Kombit’ on the occasion of the Open Balkan meeting in the capital city set to take place tomorrow.
The protest was called by former PM Sali Berisha and a fraction of DP that has joined him in his fight to oust the current DP chair, Lulzim Basha.
Protesters gathered in front of DP’s headquarters, where along with signs against Vucic they made calls against the DP leader calling him to leave.
Vucic is in Tirana under the framework of the Open Balkan meetings.
The government has heavily guarded the prime minister’s office and other public institutions, along with deploying 1.000 officers on the ground.
