PM Edi Rama arrived at the Palace of Brigades this morning to hold the Open Balkan summit, where he will meet with Serbian president, Aleksandar Vucic and North Macedonia’s PM, Zoran Zaev.

Both Vucic and Zaev arrived in Albania last night. They were welcomed by Rama in a business dinner in Elbasan, thus avoiding the possible chaos that might have ensued due to Sali Berisha’s protest against Vucic’s arrival to Tirana and the Open Balkan initiative.

In today’s meeting, the three Balkan leaders will be signing a list of 5 agreements. The first one will set out the conditions on free access to the job market.

Other agreements are revolved around the common schemes that will be put in place regarding the electronic identification of citizens at border checkpoints, collaboration in the field of food safety, mutual recognition, and economic operators.

Meanwhile, Kosovo, Montenegro and Bosnia Hercegovina haven’t agreed to be a part of this initiative, even after continuous calls for collaboration.
