German vehicle manufacturers are more prominent in our country not only when it comes to regular car owners but bus and truck drivers as well.
Along with Volkswagen, Mercedes has ahold of 35% of the market, when it comes to the most popular brands amongst Albanians.
Last year, around 50 thousand new cars were registered in Albania, bringing the overall number to 670 thousand. Durres is reported to have the highest number of vehicles in relation to its population, followed by Tirana and Gjirokaster.
According to the production year, however, only 9% of cars are new. The majority were manufactured before 2010.
75% of vehicles use oil, 18% use gasoline whereas electric cars are too few in number. Nonetheless, the number of electric cars is going up each year, which could be because of the economic benefits as well as the fact that the entire global economy is moving towards the reduction of greenhouse gases and protecting the climate.
