Montenegro’s Djukanovic tests positive for COVID-19

The President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, tested positive for COVID-19, announced his cabinet on Thursday.

According to a press release, Djukanovic is in good condition with only mild symptoms.

“In compliance with epidemiologic measures, the president is in quarantine and will continue to carry out his functions”, the statement read.

Djukanovic went isolation shortly after meeting a person who tested positive and has since then cancelled his agenda, including a meeting with the speaker of the Turkish Assembly, who is on an official visit to Montenegro.

On Thursday, the country logged 272 new cases while active infections are estimated at over 2,000.
