On Friday, the Prosecution Office of Tirana has called in for questioning several employees that had access to the database where the wages were leaked from.
Currently, prosecution authorities are summoning the employees of the National Agency of Information Society (AKSHI), mainly IT specialists.
Next in line for questioning are the employees of the Social Security Institution as well as the General Directorate of Taxation.
The investigation is following a bottom-up approach, with executives to be summoned last.
On Wednesday, a list containing the January salaries of hundreds of thousands of citizens came out in public, while a second list, that of April salaries was leaked the day after.
Prime Minister Edi Rama called on the Prosecution to launch a probe while ruling out the possibilities of a cyberattack.
The scandal comes just a few months after another personal data breach ahead of the parliamentary elections, dubbed as the “Patron system” scandal.
