After the massive data breach that included the publication of hundreds of thousands of payslips and other sensitive information of Albanian citizens, the head of the operative system at the National Agency of Information has stepped down.
The personal information of over 690 thousand Albanian citizens is being passed around all over social media in the form of an Excel file and is easily accessible by anyone. The database contains citizens’ names, last names, workplaces, phone numbers, and personal IDs.
The Prosecution has announced that it is investigating the scandal, which represents the second data leak for 2021, after the first one dubbed ‘Patrons list’ which was allegedly kept by members of the Socialist Party called Patrons, and included the leak of personal information of hundreds of thousands of Albanian citizens and their voting preferences.
Earlier today, yet another database of sensitive information was leaked, containing license plates, car models, owners, and personal IDs, thus deepening the already aggravated privacy crisis in our country.
