Deputy Chief Justice at the High Court, Sokol Sadushi declared this morning that over 2.800 casefiles have been referred to this courthouse since January 2021.

“We are expecting the same dynamic workload in 2022. In order to get this court out of the total state of collapse we found it in, we will need patience. We are waiting for another 5 judges [to be appointed],” – he said.

In addition, Sadushi underlined that a year’s workload for a single judge at the High Court has exceeded all limits, reaching over 500 casefiles.

“The good news is that the number of verdicts issued in 2021 exceeded the number of referred cases. In 2021, we issued 3.609 verdicts,” – he added.

When asked about the yearend report for 2021, the High Court judge said that he is aware of the current state of things and that a detailed plan of action has been drafted.

“There are many baseless recourses that don’t pass the legitimacy test. We are also facing a concern in regards to lawyers; not every single conflict needs to be moved all the way up to the High Court,” -said the Deputy Justice.

According to him, the High Court interprets the law, not the facts.
