The Special Court against Organized Crime and Corruption has issued a final ruling on 10 suspects accused of being involved in the police uniforms tender fraud.

The head of the Concentrated Purchases Agency, Edlira Naqellari, was sentenced to 1 year in prison and 5 years suspension from holding a public function.

The court gave the same ruling for Flutura Cekrezi, Ani Omuri, Anisa Bogdani, Fatmir Demneri, Mariglen Buzali and Kreshnik Bejkaj.

Gëzim Mingaj and Aurora Mulla were sentenced to probation services whereas Klevis Hasani has been released from jail.

The defendants got a shorter sentence due to the court deciding that they should be tried through a summary conviction.

Former and exisiting high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were arrested 5 months ago, following an operation led by SPAK that was linked to fraud in a police uniforms tender back in 2020, that amounted to 25 million euros.

According to SPAK, they were accused of collaborating with the director of the Agency of Concentrated Purchases, Edlira Naqellari – discharged on July 1, by minister Bledi Cuci – and violating the rules of public procurement processes, tender competitive equality, and causing economic damages to the state.
