Member of the Technical Committee of Experts, Andi Koraqi told Euronews Albania that Omicron is currently the most dominant variant in our country.

The head of the microbiology lab at QSUT, declared that infections are expected to rise and reach a peak by the end of January.

The doctor also noted that the new anti-COVID measures put in place will be crucial to keep the variant at bay as well as prevent a massive spread of the coronavirus.

“Omicron will make it possible for COVID-19 to turn into a regular disease that will possess a flu-like nature. Anti-COVID measures need to be respected, and we need to keep looking for the possibility of new viruses arising,” – said the doctor.

From January 4, all public workers and employees in grocery stores and malls will have to present their vaccination certificate when going to work, or commit to a weekly test in case they’re not vaccinated.

For all those who haven’t had their vaccine but have recovered from the virus recently, a certificate from relevant health authorities could also be sufficient.
