This Tuesday, Judge Luan Daci asked to return to work as a judge or a member of the Special Appeals College.
He announced his request during a press conference that aimed to clarify the judicial and constitutional claims against him.
According to Daci, the conviction against him was made without him committing a criminal act as prescribed by the Albanian Legislation, while adding that he has never falsified a document in his life.
“Apart from it being completely absurd and illegal, even on the linguistic aspect, this terminology is wrong because in reality, intellectual falsification is part of plagiarism and has nothing to do with the falsification of official documents,” – said Daci.
On December 1, Luan Daci was sentenced to 6 months in prison – a decision, which was converted to 1-year probation. He was accused of forging official documents, after hiding his dismissal back in 1997, from the High Judicial Council.
The High Judicial Council at the time had dismissed him due to violations and incompetence.
This violation, according to the law on the status of the judge or prosecutor, becomes grounds for a lack of fulfilling the criteria required to become a part of the Special Appeals College.
