Tirana’s District Court has issued its formal ruling on the 4 arrested citizens linked to the leaked database scandal, which exposed sensitive financial information including salaries of over 600 thousand of Albanian citizens.
Enin Qirjako, Andi Agaraj, Endri Ikonomi and Klodian Sota have been freed from their cells, thus receiving lighter sentences.
At this time, the court ordered the dismissal of Eni Qirjako and sentenced her to supervised probation. In addition, Andi Agaraj, Endri Ikonomi and Klodian Sota were all put on house arrest.
Two of the offenders arrested for this recent data breach were civil servants who worked for the General Taxation Directorate, whereas the other two were employed in the private sector.
Tirana’s Prosecutor General, Elisabeta Imeraj, gave a press statement three days ago, in which she explained that the IT specialist, Eni Qirjako had transferred the data to her colleague, Andi Agaraj, who had then exploited them without proper authorization, ultimately selling them to private subjects in exchange for an inconsiderable compensation.
The buyers that are now on house arrest are Klodian Sota and Enri Ikonomi.
