Edmont Guri, a representative from the Albanian community in Greece, spoke to Euronews Albania about the methods that can be followed by Albanian emigrants, who wish to apply for a residence permit, now that the deadline has been postponed to March 31, 2022.
Guri said that applications can only be done online and any errors when filling out the forms can penalize Albanian emigrants, who should try to send their submissions much earlier than the given deadline in order to avoid any penalties.
In addition, Guri accused the Greek government of not providing the necessary information and guidelines that need to be followed in order to apply for a residency permit online – which could penalize Albanian citizens living in Greece, especially those who aren’t particularly affluent in computer language.
“Many Albanians aren’t informed. When it comes to emigrants, Greece doesn’t seem to care. No information on how to apply has been provided, which has contributed to many difficulties amongst emigrants. If the emigrant makes a mistake when filling out his form, he is given a second chance. But, if he doesn’t act within March 31, he risks losing his residency permit,” – said Guri.
