The Democratic Party released a press statement calling on Albanian President Ilir Meta to distance himself from internal debates taking place within the DP.

“Ilir Meta and his people must stay away from the headquarters of the Democratic Party”, the statement read.

In addition, it says that the days when Ilir Meta used the DP as a shield came to an end on September 9, when the DP distanced itself from Sali Berisha,

“The intervention of the President of the Republic, like that of PM Edi Rama, in the internal debate of the Democratic Party proves what we have been seeing since from the beginning: the Berisha-Rama-Meta are united by a single problem”, the statement read.

DP’s reaction comes after the stance expressed by President Meta during an interview for local media.

Among others, Meta blamed Basha for the current state of opposition in the country, as well as its failure.
