The deputy assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian Affairs, Gabriel Escobar, denounced the violence that ensued at the protest held in January, claiming that it might be a way to take over control of a political party.
In an interview for Voice of America, the high US official also noted that not every member of the Democratic Party is an “important US ally”.
“I think it is regretful for someone to use violence instead of racing to take over control of a political party. Not everyone who claims to be a member of the DP is an important ally to us”, said Escobar.
He also spoke about the role that Washington will have during the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue and hopes of the region to integrate into the EU.
