Infection rates have reached record high figures in Albania and North Macedonia.
On Tuesday, Albania registered 2,177 new infections and 6 deaths, while neighbor North Macedonia detected 1,822 cases.
Serbia’s new cases hit a record high of 13,693 despite having 46.90% of its population fully vaccinated.
The country of 6.908 million has the highest vaccination rate among the Western Balkan countries, followed by Kosovo.
The epidemiological situation in Kosovo has seen signs of improvement in the last week.
The countries were hit by another wave, with experts putting the blame on the highly transmissible Omicron variant.
