Former PM Sali Berisha has been summoned by the Prosecution tomorrow, to answer questions related to the protest that turned violent on January 8.

The same invitation was presented to DP’s chair, Lulzim Basha, as well.

Two days ago, during his interview for Euronews Albania’s ‘NOW’, Sali Berisha said that he is open to go to the prosecution if summoned, in order to talk about what he knows about the clashes that took place at DP’s headquarters, which ended up in excessive use of force by both the protestors and unidentified individuals from inside DP’s main building.

Earlier today, Tirana’s District Court sentenced 28 out of 34 protests, who were arrested for violent acts during the January 8 protest, with conditional probation, whereas 6 others are still being investigated.

After the protest organized by former PM Sali Berisha and fellow Democrats, the police arrested 34 citizens, 23 of whom were Berisha’s supporters and 11 others, were individuals ‘protecting’ DP’s headquarters from inside the main building.
