Former PM Sali Berisha has given his testimony before prosecutors today regarding the protest that took place on January 8 at DP’s headquarters, where hundreds of Berisha’s supporters tried to gain control of the Democratic Party.
At 12:00, Democratic MP, Flamur Noka is expected to appear before prosecutors as well, whereas DP chair, Lulzim Basha has been summoned to appear on Friday.
The violent clash between the two different camps at the Democratic Party on January 8, resulted in the excessive use of force from both sides, which was ultimately dispersed by the police.
34 citizens were taken into custody, 23 of whom were part of the protestors standing outside of the Democratic Party and 11 others were supporters of Basha.
However, yesterday, Tirana’s District Court, decided to let them free, while only deciding to prosecute 6 of them.
