The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Kadri Veseli has reacted after indictment filed by the Special Prosecution Office over war crimes in Kosovo. In a press briefing, Veseli said the accusations were “untrue and politically motivated”.

“The Special Prosecution Office released a press declaration about an indictment against me and President Thaçi. In an unprecedented move, the Prosecution has released a declaration prior to the Court’s ruling. In this declaration, the Prosecutor attempts to argument his unfair and uncommon decision, claiming that the President and I have been hampering the work of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers (KSC). These claims are completely untruthful and inconsistent”, said Veseli.

In addition, the PDK leader emphasized that the KLA has conducted a fair war, adding that “no one will be able to tarnish their quest for freedom and independence”.

“I want to assure all citizens of Kosovo that I will not allow neither this Prosecutor nor anyone else alike him, to slander Kosovo’s Liberation Army. We have been obliged to defend ourselves and our country and we will do it again. If we have to, we will once again demonstrate that KLA has conducted a fair war in its quest for freedom, against one of the most powerful and aggressive armies in the world”, added Veseli.

“I am proud for having been a part of the liberation war and hereby deny any involvement in criminal acts”, said Veseli, while adding that he remains ready to protect his country and the history of Kosovo.
