The Socialist Party submitted on Tuesday to the Central Election Commission (CEC) its application to register in the local by-elections due on March 6.

The request, delivered by the party’s general secretary Damian Gjiknuri, also includes the names of the candidates for the members of the Local Electoral Administrative Committees (KZAZ).

In a parliamentary group meeting held a few days ago, PM Edi Rama declared that at the by-elections, the ruling party will compete against an opposition that is in the midst of an internal race.

“On one side there’s us, with six candidates who will run based on concrete work. On the other hand, there is them with 12, 18 or even more candidates”, said Rama.

March 6 will be the date when the electorate of six municipalities will head to the polls to elect their new mayor, respectively in Vora, Durres, Shkodra, Dibra, Rrogozhina and Lushnje.
