Is the City’s decision to ban all heavy-duty concrete mixers from operating within the area encompassed by the Small Ring from 07:00 – 20:00, actually being implemented?
Not quite. For the past couple of days, citizens have been sending photos and video footage showing concrete mixers working around the clock, showing no regard for the measures imposed recently by the municipal council.
Photos show the vehicles clearly as well as the companies they operate for.
About a week ago, the chief of traffic police, Gentjan Vocaj, appeared in an interview for Euronews Albania, during which he was steadfast on the fact that these companies will no longer be tolerated.
“Fines up to 100 thousand ALL will be issued,” – he said.
Tirana’s City Hall has been the entity responsible for issuing permits to these companies, but are these permits being given on a preferential basis, and have any fines actually been imposed?
So far, the City Hall has yet to come out with an official response.
