On average, PM Edi Rama spends €200 thousand euros a year on travels abroad. This finding was retrieved from Open Data reports published since 2016.

In January, PM Rama’s travels abroad cost 39 thousand euros.

Recently, DP has criticized the prime minister regarding his luxurious private jet travels which cost well over 120 thousand euros.

This whopping receipt was interpreted as a simple 345 euros, spent out of his own personal pockets, by PM Rama during a public appearance.

But what were Rama’s actual travel bills since 2016, according to Open Data?

Open Data claims that in 2021, official visits abroad by our cabinet ministers cost the state budget a total of 645 thousand euros – half of which went for the minister of defense, the minister of foreign affairs and the prime minister.

In retrospect, when Rama came to power in 2013, he vowed to splurge much less on plane tickets and travels abroad, by picking cheap hotels and plane tickets.
