The U.S. Department of State has confirmed that Albania and the United States will be playing a key role in the UN Security Council, when it comes to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, said Rama during a press conference held earlier today following ex-minister Saimir Tahiri’s arrest.
“It’s now official, Albania and the US will be co-penholders at the UN Security Council on issues of peace and stability,” – declared Rama, adding that this will be a new level of responsibility for our country that will at the same time deepen our partnership with the United States.
PM Rama also added that by showing our utmost preparedness in this matter, we make it clear that Albania is on the side of those protecting peace and promoting security.
“There’s no doubt that this is a new and much greater responsibility but it is also an undeniable confirmation of a new image for Albania in the international arena – an Albania that is valued for its character, its stability, and its ability to play a key role as a country that promotes peace and security,” – said Rama.
According to Rama, these new developments are a chance for Albania to step up on another level as well as a chance to celebrate our many efforts in the field of international relations.
“Albania’s role in the Russia-Ukraine conflict is a chance for Albania to prove itself and show that our word counts and that we’re no longer at the bottom of the pile,” – said Rama.
