Belgian prosecutors have been in Tirana for more than three days in an official visit, during which they will be collecting details on the Toyota Yaris casefiles.

Investigations into this case started back in 2018. More than 20 people have been taken in for questioning by prosecutors, including DP’s chair Lulzim Basha.

According to information provided by SPAK, Belgian prosecutors will be leaving Albania today to continue their investigations in Brussels. However, SPAK also confirmed that their visit here, didn’t only concern the Toyota Yaris incident.

Journalist Eni Ferhati reported that prosecutors collected data and evidence on several ongoing cases. They are investigating criminal groups and individuals connected to the crime world in Albania and Belgium. It’s important to note that three Albanian citizens have lost their lives in the past 2 weeks in Belgium due to their involvement with the crime world.

The Toyota Yaris files is an ongoing investigation that is being conducted in collaboration with the Belgium prosecutions, which involves the confiscation of 3.4 million euros that were hidden in a car – model Toyota Yaris – that was found and seized at the Port of Durres before leaving the country.

At the time, Basha accused Taulant Balla of being the owner of the undeclared banknotes found in the Toyota Yaris.
