The Director of Serbia’s Office for Kosovo, Petar Petkovic, said on Monday that in the last 6 months, Prishtina has been taking the dialogue to absurdity’.
In an interview on Serbia’s public broadcaster, he reiterated Belgrade’s commitment to the dialogue and that they will insist on the formation of the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities. The latter has not been established yet, although it was part of an agreement reached in Brussels nine years ago.
“When referring to that document, Prishtina invokes a decision of the so-called Constitutional Court which dismissed a 2015 adjudication, therefore 22 articles on general principles related to the foundation of the Serb-majority Municipalities”, said Petkovic.
He also noted that 23 incidents against Serbian citizens have been recorded in just two months.
“Kurti’s anti-Serbian rhetoric generates a negative atmosphere in Kosovo which leads to actions of Albanian extremists attacking people, the church, and our property. That is why we need the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities.
In regards to the elections, he revealed plans to discuss with the EU’s Special Envoy for the Dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, as the stance of Kosovo Serbs is clear: April 3 elections should be held in Kosovo, too.
“No one has the right to deprive Kosovo Serbs of their right to vote”, said Petkovic.
