Gent Sejko has been appointed governor of the Bank of Albania today with 103 votes in his favor.

The proposal to reappoint Sejko as governor was made by president Ilir Meta.

In an announcement posted by the President’s Office around 10 days ago, Meta commended the role played by the Bank of Albania in securing the stability of our financial sector.

The governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko, ended his mandate on February 5, 2022.

He was first appointed back in February 2015, succeeding the unfinished mandate of Ardian Fullani, who had just been arrested due to an embezzlement scandal that cost the Bank of Albania millions of euros in damages.
