Several Albanian citizens have shown their interest in joining the war in Ukraine, according to sources near the Ukrainian Embassy in Tirana.
Their identity hasn’t been made public for security reasons.
Foreigners living in Albania have also expressed their willingness to join the International Legion of Territorial Protection for Ukraine.
Mustafa Beheshti and Hamid Morsaly are Iranian nationals.
They headed to the Ukrainian Embassy in Tirana, to find out more about yesterday’s public call for anyone wishing to join the resistance forces against Russian invaders in Ukraine.
Hamid and Mustafa said that tomorrow, they will be joined by 2 other friends who also want to fight with the Ukrainian people.
When it comes to foreign citizens this wouldn’t necessarily pose that big of a problem, but Albanian citizens could get penalized.
Our Criminal Code foresees that the participation of Albanian citizens in foreign wars could have them face up to 8 years in prison.
