Citizens met at Skanderbeg square again this Sunday morning, to carry on the 5th day of protests against recent price hikes.

Protesters continued their calls for lower taxes and an adequate economic relief package in response to the global crisis.

Regular citizens and civil society representatives continue to call for massive participation.

“You are the only hope for this country. We’re different but share the same burden,” – said one of the protesters.

Some have also brought their pets with them claiming that they have no means to continue feeding them.

PM Rama declared during an earlier message that protestors are only a minority looking to cause chaos and that they don’t represent the people.

An hour before today’s protest, PM Rama came out with comments against the protestors and tried to remind everyone that the present situation is caused by war and during wars, crises have to be expected.

He also called attention to his recent social package, saying that half a million people will be receiving an extra 30 thousand ALL (or €25 euros) for the next 3 months.

However, protestors look at how neighboring countries are dealing with the crisis and are calling for a better emergency response from the government, like lowering taxes, imposing a price ceiling on oil, emitting a reasonable economic relief package, etc.
