Enkelejd Alibeaj is the interim leader of the Democratic Party after Lulzim Basha quit on Monday.

His new status comes along not only with various privileges, such as police protection but also with several responsibilities, including representing the Democrats in all public and political domestic and international activities.

As the leader of the largest opposition party, he is entitled to be escorted at all times by the Republican Guard.

Alibeaj will have no time limits in parliament when replicating against his Socialist opponent and current PM Edi Rama.

Currently, Alibeaj holds 8 posts, among others, he is the regional party leader in Fier and Shkodra.

The eight functions of Enkelejd Alibeaj in the Democratic Party:

  • Interim leader
  • Deputy leader
  • Member of parliament
  • Member of the Democratic Party’s presidency
  • Head of the Parliamentary Group
  • Regional political leader in Fier
  • Regional political leader in Shkodra
  • Leader of the Democratic Party for the Vlora branch

He will continue to hold these functions for as long as he carries the post of interim leader.
