Starting from April 3, Albania will have a new tradition, going car-free on the first Sunday of every month.
The decision was made public by the country’s tourism minister on Facebook.
Minister Mirela Kumbaro said that the new rule will apply to all major cities, in a call for action that aims to produce better air quality, but also save up fuel amid an ongoing crisis.
“If we can’t turn the engines off during the whole time, let’s at least do that on the days off, and switch to cycling or walking”, the minister said.
