A crowd gathered in Vlora to protest on Sunday a project that will entirely change Flag Square.
The protest was organized by civil society activists and shared across social media platforms.
Protesters called on the government to provide clarity on this project.
According to them, the project eradicates not only the city’s history but that of the entire nation.
On 28 November 1912, Albania proclaimed independence from the Ottoman Empire and raised its two-headed black eagle red flag in Vlora.
Every year, people gather at Flag Square to celebrate the anniversary of independence.
Protesters said that another will protest will follow on April 7.
