Sexual offenses, illegal gambling, and domestic violence have seen an upward trend this year, data seem to suggest.
According to a report compiled by the General Prosecution Office over criminal offenses that took place in 2021, there was a 16% rise in crimes of sexual violence.
Domestic violence was 12% higher than in 2020, with 1,406 cases reported.
Illegal gambling also saw a significant upward trend, as prosecutors launched 70% more investigations than last year.

Fraud was also 20% higher meanwhile, cannabis cultivation rose by 10%.
Cybercrime has almost doubled, and so have criminal prosecutions, estimated at over 48%.
But other facets of crime have seen a decline, such as crimes against humanity (14%), environmental crimes (5%), or property theft (13%).
Some 3,412 people were electronically surveilled in 2021 as part of the investigations, among them officials suspected of corruption and abuse of office.
Dibra was the district with the lowest criminality rate in 2021, while on the other side of the spectrum stood Vlora.
