The legalization of cannabis is an unpremeditated and unpatriotic act from Edi Rama that harms Albania’s EU integration process.
These were the words used by former PM Sali Berisha in a press conference on Friday, opposing Rama’s decision to legalize medical marijuana.
Legalizing cannabis in a country that has been labeled “Cannabistan” means making that the symbol of the country, Berisha held.
“Cannabization increases the potential of financing organized and terrorist groups. With legalization, any barricade against that dangerous drug is removed. I hereby call on international allies to raise their voice against this decision that will pose a threat to them as well”, concluded Berisha.
