Dozens of customs officers were arrested on Friday on both sides of the Albania/Kosovo Vermica border crossing, in connection to various illegal activities, including accepting briberies.
KosovaPress reported that at least 20 Kosovo officials were taken to custody during the operation titled “Point 2”, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police Inspectorate and the Special Prosecution.
Albania’s SPAK was also involved in the investigation and announced to have detained 17 border employees during the joint operation.
The bust came after a one-year-long investigation after suspicions of illegal activities, including here accepting bribery, and abuse of the power delegated by the office, Kosovo Police announced.
