$6,460 billion USD in bank assets are owned by 109,192 individuals, which make up for only 6.6% of savings in Albania.
Official data show that by the end of last year, the rich became even more wealthy, comprising 58% of the total deposits in the system.
They became 600 million more wealthy compared to figures from the end of 2020.
But also the number of people that have more than $25,000 USD in their bank accounts expanded by over 8,000.
Despite all that, the inequality trend continues to deepen. A single individual owns more wealth than 20 others joined together. A year ago, the ratio was 1 for 19.
Small deposits increased by 4.8% on an annual basis, while large deposits increased by 10.4%.
Total bank deposits reached $12.86 billion USD, up 4.5% compared to 2020.
