Socialist MP Ornaldo Rakipi said on Thursday that his father, Aqif Rakipi, intends to appeal the public designation of the US State Department.

Speaking from the parliament’s podium, Rakipi blamed former DP leader Lulzim Basha for ‘unjustly throwing dirt’ on his father, influencing the decision announced a few days ago.

“Aqif Rakipi was mentioned quite often recently, especially by Lulzim Basha and people close to him. He was demonized and thrown dirt on him unjustly”, said Rakipi.

“I will say one thing to Basha. Don’t curse others for their success, but learn that politics in its essence is about human relations. And this is the exact reason behind your series of failures, this is why you were given some of the greatest opportunities in the past 30 years and yet you failed to win the people’s hearts and trust”, he added.

Aqif Rakipi, a businessman and former MP from the right-wing Party for Justice, Integration and Unity is among 7 other individuals from the Western Balkans that were declared non-grata by the United States, over their alleged involvement in activities that undermine regional stability and democracy.
