German media ‘Der Spiegel’ published on Friday an article describing an incident that took place last December, where Albanian PM Edi Rama was escorted by the police for refusing to wear a mask while onboard a Lufthansa flight.

According to Der Spiegel, Prime Minister Edi Rama refused to wear an FFP2 type mask, instead of a cotton one he was using.

“According to fellow passengers, the head of government vehemently against wearing the prescribed medical corona protective mask at the beginning of December before the departure of a crane jet from Frankfurt am Main to Detroit that the cabin crew had to call the captain for help. However, since he was also unable to convince the Albanian head of government of the general obligation to wear either an FFP2 or a surgical mask instead of a fabric mask, Rama was escorted off-board by the federal police.”

The director of the Agency for Media and Information, Endri Fuga, said the incident dates back to December and Lufthansa has already offered an apology for the entire ordeal.
