Catholics in Albania are preparing to celebrate Easter Mass this Sunday, free from pandemic restrictions after two years.

Considered one of the most important events in Catholicism, parishioners celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

President Ilir Meta reached out to the Catholic community in a message recalling the sacrifices of Jesus ‘to witness by deeds the example of His life, every day, being in service and humbly to people in need, and to hold close to our hearts anyone who suffers

Prime Minister Edi Rama said that ‘Easter vigil is the vigil of the rebirth of life, love, and hope’.

The Speaker of Parliament Lindita Nikolla wished the Catholic community ‘peace and prosperity for all’.

Easter is the largest celebration of the liturgical calendar of the Roman Catholic Church and other Christian churches celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth.

According to the New Testament, Jesus Christ rose from the dead three days after his crucifixion.

The week before Easter is called Holy Week, consisting of Three Days of Easter, which include Holy Thursday, which commemorates the Last Supper, and Holy Friday, which commemorates the crucifixion and death of Jesus.
