“Kosovo and Serbia could not reach an agreement for the license plates”, declared on Thursday Kosovo’s chief negotiator Besnik Bislimi.
Bislimi said during a press conference after discussions with his Serbian counterpart, that Serbia is not ready for a solution that would benefit both countries.
“No, unfortunately, I cannot give any good news. Our group made another effort to compile a draft proposal that would be put up for discussion today. Unfortunately, there is no willingness from the Serbian side to agree on a possible solution”, local media KosovaPress cited Bislimi as saying.
The deadline for a permanent solution to the license plates dispute was today.
Earlier in the day, EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak said the meeting between chief negotiators was on the right path, however, it appears that this case is once again in a deadlock.
After the meeting ended, Lajcak invited the two parties to the dialogue to also engage on other pressing issues.
No agreement has been reached on licence plates today.I invite Chief negotiators to meet again in coming days to agree on the way forward & continue discussions on other current issues. We expect all actors to refrain from actions, which could jeopardise the security on the ground. pic.twitter.com/kJjtXlpqTf
