Analyst Andi Bushati said that the faction within the Democratic Party that is against its former leader Sali Berisha is looking to find support from the ruling majority led by PM Edi Rama.
Bushati also commented on Thursday on an incident that took place at the podium of the Albanian Parliament, where Berisha shoved the floor leader of the Democratic Party, Enkelejd Alibeaj.
Bushati said that during today’s meeting of the DP parliamentary group, Berisha accused Alibeaj of acting as the ‘representative of Socialist MP Taulant Balla’.
The analyst also raised the question of why Balla actually was the first to come to the defense of Alibeaj.
“On today’s DP parliamentary group meeting, Berisha’s main accusation against Alibeaj was that he’s acting as the representative of Taulant Balla. How is it possible that the first to come to the defense of Alibeaj, as if he had heard Berisha, was Taulant Balla?”, asked Bushati.
“There is an effort from Berisha’s opponent camp to get the support of the ruling majority, and politically there is no basis for prejudice for that. But, when this becomes institutionalized in parliament, it is like a mockery to the public”, he added.
According to him, Berisha lost many points with his behavior in parliament today, while adding that PM Edi Rama does not have any authority to determine who is dead or alive from the opposition, as it is the people who decide that by the power of their ballot.
