Albania’s tourism and culture minister Mirela Kumbaro declared on Wednesday that the National Park of Butrint is not up for concession.
In an event from Pogradec, Kumbaro said that the Ministry of Culture will be creating a special fund, similar to the law on non-profit organizations, in order to boost investments in cultural sites.
“The National Park of Butrint is not up for concession. The Ministry of Culture, in a special law based on the 2018 Law on Cultural Heritage, is creating a fund as per the law on non-profit organizations that has been in force for many years. It is a method and legal space attributed by the law on cultural heritage to boost investment in cultural sites”, said minister Kumbaro.
Kumbaro ruled out contracting a concessionary firm but said it is a cooperation agreement with the Albanian-American Development Foundation.
According to her, the race and agreement were published on the official page of the ministry.
