Former Democrat lawmaker Astrit Patozi refused t to return to his old party after Sali Berisha sent out an invitation to all those who left during Lulzim Basha’s leadership.
In a status shared on Facebook, Patozi explains that he’s not looking to join any political entity.
According to him, the Democratic Party is at an all-time low, after a “long and uninterrupted mismanagement”.
“I feel at peace today with my life and freedom. Meanwhile, I would have never thought that politics could be conducted around a single party and a legendary and unmistakable leader. But since the verbal invitation to the ‘wedding’ was sent after midnight, I would like to recall that the same thing happened 5 years ago, when they dismissed us. Of course, without proper voting nor a political forum meeting”, Patozi wrote on Facebook.
After the end of the Refoundation Commission meeting just past midnight, former DP leader Sali Berisha spoke about the party’s many ex-members who are making a comeback, such as Arben Imami and Jozefina Topall.
He also invited other former members who had left during Basha’s rule to return to the DP.
