Prime Minister Edi Rama hosted on Friday a meeting with the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried.
The meeting is taking place at the Prime Minister’s Office, with a joint press conference expected to follow.
Donfried will also meet members of the opposition, including floor leader of the Democratic Party, Enkelejd Alibeaj, Gazment Bardhi, and Jorida Tabaku.
On Thursday, the senior US official met EU Commissioner for Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi.
The two diplomats reiterated the importance EU integration has on the region, in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Donfried is on a tour around the Balkans. So far, she’s been to Belgrade, Prishtina, and Skopje.
While in Skopje on Thursday, Donfried said the United States fully supports launching accession negotiations for Albania and North Macedonia.
