The floor leader of the Democratic Party Enkelejd Alibeaj said on Friday that senior US official Karen Donfried had assured him support from the United States and the Department of State.

In a press conference held after meeting Donfried at the headquarters of the Albanian Assembly, Alibeaj said the two had discussed pressing issues, including the rule of law, the war on corruption, and the relationship that the Democratic Party and the United States have.

Alibeaj reiterated that he was told the US supports an opposition whose eyes are on the future.

“I had to discuss the special relationship the Democratic Party and the United States have. It was with utmost pleasure that I noticed the great support for the DP. I received the support of Mrs. Donfried, the US, and DOS for a strong, stable, pro-European integration and pro-American opposition that is looking toward the future”, Alibeaj said.
