Prime Minister Edi Rama shared on Friday details from the meeting with Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Karen Donfried.

Rama wrote on Facebook that the meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office was to discuss the positive progress of the reforms in the region while adding that the United States supports the Open Balkan.

“We spoke extensively about the positive progress of the reforms, strengthening justice, strategic investments in energy, Bulgaria’s veto on North Macedonia, the situation in the region, as well as the full support of the United States on Open Balkan”, Rama wrote.

After meeting with the prime minister, Donfried headed to the Assembly’s headquarters where she met DP’s floor leader Enkelejd Alibeaj, the party’s general secretary Gazment Bardhi and Jorida Tabaku.

On Thursday, the senior US official met EU Commissioner on Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi to discuss the importance that European integration has on the region, in face of the threats warned by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
